Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease two 8-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, cream 0.5 cups of butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in lemon juice and zest.
Combine cake flour and baking powder, then add to the wet mixture alternating with whole milk.
Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool completely.
For the frosting, beat remaining 0.5 cups of butter with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
Frost the cooled layers smoothly with the white frosting to create a blank canvas.
Pipe decorative borders and accents using the blue and yellow icing.
Garnish the top with fresh lemon slices and edible sugar flowers before serving.
