Ingredients

  • 16 oz Ground beef 80/20 blend preferred
  • 16 oz Refrigerated biscuit dough Cut into quarters
  • 1/4 cup All-purpose flour For thickening the gravy
  • 2.5 cup Whole milk Room temperature
  • 1 tsp Seasoned salt Adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Black pepper Freshly ground
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder Adds depth of flavor
  • 1.5 cup Shredded cheddar cheese Freshly shredded melts best
  • 2 tbsp Fresh chives Finely chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Cut the refrigerated biscuits into quarters and arrange them evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the cooked beef and stir constantly for 1 to 2 minutes to cook the raw flour.
  • Gradually whisk in the whole milk, reducing heat to medium-low. Simmer until the gravy thickens, about 5 to 7 minutes. Season generously with pepper, seasoned salt, and garlic powder.
  • Pour the beef gravy evenly over the biscuit pieces in the baking dish. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through, and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh chives before serving hot.
