Instructions
Thinly slice the cucumbers and red onions. Place the cucumber slices in a colander set over a bowl.
Toss the cucumbers with 1 teaspoon of salt and let them sit for 30 minutes to draw out excess moisture. Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, white vinegar, sugar, the remaining 0.5 teaspoon of salt, black pepper, and fresh dill.
Add the dried cucumbers and sliced red onions to the dressing. Toss gently until all vegetables are evenly coated.
Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
